Hurricane Suzanne Hits Tidewater

The final reports are in to our news desk. Suzanne has completely devastated the Tidewater area. Government officials are visiting today to estimate damages in the area. Conservative estimates top off at $50 million dollars.

Suzanne swept up the coast creating devastation as it gained strength when it hovered over our area for nearly 5 hours. The coastline was the area hardest hit. Debris, including picnic tables and small watercraft, littered the beach following the storm. Several thousands of fish also lay helpless waiting for the tide to return them to their homes.

The true destruction is that of the tourist trade. All of the hotels along the ocean were flattened or severely damaged beyond repair. Local businessmen have gathered to together to try to plan the next logical step for the future of the Virginia coast. Conversations end with a question of erosion that has claimed over 100,000 tons of sand.

Most small businesses are pulling out or giving up on Virginia, blaming bad luck and timing. The larger companies are contacting their national headquarters and planning the next location for their businesses.
