Norristown
Norristown has a population of 3,000. The landscape is dotted with single- family homes, three apartment complexes, two elementary schools, three middle schools, and one local high school. Thousands of acres of farmland serve as the backdrop for this small community. The farming industry supplies the town with 60% of its revenue.
Five blocks long, downtown Norristown has businesses that range from Traceyís Diner (a family restaurant) to Whitneyís Pet Shop. Mayor Payne and the town council were presented with a proposal for Norristown to be the site of Campbell University. It was estimated that 7,000 people (which include faculty, staff and students) would enter the community in the first year alone.
Mayor Payne is excited about the capital that the new university will generate for the town. She must consider the impact of a university on the small farming community and the preparations that will be necessary for an addition of this multitude.
