Overview
This multimedia, interdisciplinary unit is designed for eighth grade students with implementation of Virginia Standards of Learning 7.6, 7.7 and 7.10. Each lesson allows for the incorporation of technology through Internet access, computer-generated games and simulations.
Several learning environments have been included in the unit. Power Point Presentations are also adapted to the lessons to create opportunities for students to learn through different presentation styles. Assessment is provided using a series of varied evaluation techniques, such as political cartoon analysis, debates and on-line simulations.
The approximate duration of the economics unit is 12-14 weeks. A suggested sequence of lesson topics is provided in the Unit Plan. It is recommended that teachers preview and print out all attachments before presenting them to students. It is also suggested that teachers visit all websites and possibly webwhack  the Internet sites to ensure maximum time on task for students.
